President Donald Trump signed an executive order banning transgender Americans from serving in the military — and Col. (Ret.) Bree Fram was forced out after more than 20 years of service. She’s a patriot.

An Iraq War veteran. A rocket scientist. The first openly transgender officer promoted to colonel in the United States Armed Forces.

She served in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force, led LGBTQ+ initiatives inside the Department of the Air Force, and deployed overseas during the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Then she was told she could no longer serve.

Now she’s running for Congress in Virginia’s 11th District. This is a conversation about service, erasure, and what happens when a country turns on its own soldiers — and why she’s choosing to fight back instead of walk away.
